Personality : your backyard sweetheart, pleasant and friendly. Herbal power : gentle and mildly relaxing, relieves tension and relieves occasional indigestion. Reason to love : lemon balm is just one of those amiable, easy-to-love plants. A member of the mint family, with broad leaves and a pleasing lemony scent, lemon balm has a genial nature that can best be described as kind. It’s no wonder that people throughout Europe have been cultivating and using it for thousands of years both to support digestion and to calm a jangled nervous system. Named melissa from the greek word for honey because bees are wildly attracted to it, we can’t think of a nicer, more pleasing herbal tea. Taste pleasantly mild herbal taste, with subtle citrus notes. Reason to Love

While your bundle of joy is probably causing you no end of delight, moms can also feel overwhelmed and tired, especially when it comes to breastfeeding. We love the fact that this herbal tea has traditionally been used to help mothers support their production of breast milk and to promote healthy lactation.* With herbs like fennel, anise (which give the tea a sweet, licorice-like taste), coriander and fenugreek, each sip is like stepping into a tradition that has been passed down from woman to woman for hundreds of years.

We’ve Got the Right Stuff

The herbs in this tea—fennel, anise, coriander, fenugreek, and blessed thistle—are galactagogues, which has nothing at all to do with their reputation for space travel and everything to do with their power to promote healthy lactation.* The term galactagogue comes from the Greek word “galactos,” meaning “milk” and “agogue,” which means “bringer of.” Women have been successfully using these herbs for centuries to help them breastfeed.

We raise the bar. The quality standard of the herbs we use is hard to pronounce, difficult to meet, and it’s what makes us different, better. Pharmacopoeial: it’s the only quality standard our herbalists can rely on when blending teas for your health and wellness.

Reason to Love: Slippery elm or Ulmus rubra (Latin for “red elm,” so called for its lovely reddish bark) is a beautiful, native North American elm tree. Combined with licorice and marshmallow root, we think this tea blend is like taking your voice to the spa–because we all need a little comfort sometimes so we can get back to being our best. We’ve Got the Right Stuff

Our slippery elm bark is wild-collected throughout the beautiful wild lands of the southern Midwest. Our collectors ramble through forests they know intimately looking for trees and branches that are appropriate for cutting. It’s a delicate practice that requires a long-view—these forests are sustainably managed so that this important herbal resource will be available for generations to come.

The collectors must carefully strip the outer bark to get to the prized inner (slippery) bark, which is then dried and bundled up before it can be ground up for tea.

Of course, the delectable fruit of Rubus idaeus is a well-known and well-loved summer treat, but it’s the raspberry leaf you’ll find in this tea. With a silvery under leaf that is reminiscent of the moon’s glow, European and Native American women have used raspberry leaf for thousands of years for menstrual support, menstrual cramps and during pregnancy as a healthy tonic to help prepare the womb for childbirth.* We love this tea for its gently nurturing properties, and its robust taste, which is reminiscent of a delicate and mildly fruity black tea.
